This mIniature ( 9"tall) tin knight armor is marked pol zbroja husarska on the bottom. Over the course of the 16th century hussars in Transylvanian-Hungarian had become heavier in character: they had abandoned wooden shields and adopted plate metal body armour. When Stefan Bathory, a Transylvanian-Hungarian prince, was elected king of Poland in 1576 he reorganized the Polish-Lithuanian hussars of his Royal Guard along Hungarian lines, making them a heavy formation, equipped with a long lance as their main weapon. This is a vintage tourist piece that represented the armour of these days. THe helmet comes off and is the only thing that detaches from this. One side plate that covers the ear is missing its metal covering. This has a maltese cross medal in the center and fancy rivots.
